In the heart of Avenue Montaigne, where refinement is a way of life, the legendary restaurant L’Avenue cultivates a singular ambiance: a harmony of design, atmosphere, and sound. To elevate this sensory experience, L’Avenue entrusted Amadeus with the complete renewal of its audio system.

Longtime musical director Thierry Pelard, who has curated the sonic identity of the space since 2004, naturally turned to Amadeus.

Amadeus was the obvious choice.Their mastery lies in crafting systems that are as discreet as they are acoustically impeccable, always with the highest attention to detail,

Thierry explains.

As a luxury destination, L’Avenuedemanded an uncompromising level of acoustic excellence, while respecting exceptionally high aesthetic and operational standards. The renovation of the audio system had to meet an exceptionally demanding set of requirements. Since the restaurant is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to midnight, interrupting the music — a true hallmark of the venue — was simply not an option. The teams therefore worked exclusively at night, between midnight and 7 a.m., to pull new cabling and calibrate the entire system, while ensuring that every morning the space was returned perfectly clean and fully operational. Another major constraint had to be observed: no equipment could be placed on the floor.

Beyond these technical challenges, the system also needed to fulfill two seemingly opposite roles: delivering a subtle, detailed, and discreet soundscape for the daily atmosphere, while retaining the dynamic headroom required to energize the many private events hosted for an exceptional international clientele.

On the ground floor, the system is composed of twelve Amadeus PMX 4 coaxial loudspeakers in two finishes (nine in acrylic white, three in RAL 7039), complemented by a custom-designed Amadeus AVN 8low-frequency unit and a compact Amadeus ML 8 subwoofer.

Upstairs, the installation includes seven Amadeus PMX 4 loudspeakers (four in acrylic white and three in RAL 7039), along with six Amadeus C 6 coaxial loudspeakers.

For the large dining room on the first floor, Amadeusdesigned a bespoke solution, creating ultra-shallow AVN 8subwoofers- named in reference to L’Avenue- that integrate seamlessly between the cornices and the ceiling. The result is both discreet and remarkably efficient. Their placement at the junction between ceiling and vertical wall, corresponding to quarter-space loading (1 π steradian), naturally generates a gain of around +12 dB SPL in the low-frequency range, offsetting the compact size of the subwoofers.

The terrace enjoys dedicated coverage thanks to four Amadeus PMX 4 loudspeakers.

Signal management and processing are handled by a Xilica Solaro QR1 Dante-enabled processor, controlled via a tablet with a custom-designed graphical interface created by Arthus Touzet at HOLOPHONIX.

The transformation had to happen without ever interrupting the music. Amadeus designed a system that not only met these logistical demands but also respected the venue’s visual identity,

recalls Thierry Pelard.

The musical narrative defines the soul of the space. Thierry’s approach to sound design, shaped by years as a DJ and curator, has given L’Avenue a distinct and evolving identity.

My aim was to create a soundtrack that is subtle yet expressive; an ambiance that never feels monotonous or generic. Not anonymous lounge music, but carefully chosen tracks selected for their emotion, their distinctiveness, and their elegance. It is music that one listens to and that one feels,

says Thierry.

Driven by a proprietary playback system, the musical programming is continuously refined and updated remotely, ensuring both artistic coherence and legal compliance. At L’Avenue, sound is not merely an element of ambiance, it is part of the experience itself.

With this project, Amadeus affirms once again its commitment to crafting tailor-made sound environments for the world’s most iconic venues.
