Located in the heart of Rennes, Les Champs Libres brings together a world of knowledge and culture. Its 450-seat auditorium hosts an ever-evolving programme of public debates, scientific lectures, concerts, and cinema. Each month, thinkers and creators take the stage during the “Les Grands Témoins” series, while lunchtime concerts and documentary screenings fill the venue with energy and exchange.

A total of 80 Amadeus loudspeakers, including UDX 12, UDX 8, PMX 4, and custom ramp modules, are deployed throughout the auditorium. As Dewi Seignard,Head of the Auditorium Team, explains,
From the start, our aim was to go beyond basic left-right panning. We wanted to give every person in the audience the same sound image, regardless of where they are sitting.
Achieving this level of consistency demanded meticulous calibration, a detailed electroacoustic design, and a seamless integration with the HOLOPHONIX processor.
One of the unique aspects of the installation is the customisation of the loudspeakers. Rather than relying on standard black enclosures, the Amadeus units were colour-matched to blend seamlessly into the architecture of the auditorium. This discreet integration preserves the elegance of the space, allowing the system to disappear visually while remaining fully present acoustically.

Power and headroom were also key considerations.
The system is honestly far more powerful than what the room requires, which gives us incredible headroom. In our day-to-day use, we never come close to the limits of the system.
