Designed by Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti and inaugurated in 2007, the Grand Théâtre de Provence is one of Aix-en-Provence's major cultural venues. Its auditorium accommodates up to 1,366 spectators and presents a wide-ranging programme of opera, symphonic music, jazz, dance and contemporary performance.
At the heart of its sound reinforcement system are Amadeus DIVA loudspeakers, which have served the venue for many years.
Modernising an Established System
The theatre's latest technical upgrade focused on the electronics powering its existing DIVA system.
Previously driven by Lab.gruppen amplifiers and managed through Xilica processors, the system was re-equipped with Powersoft amplification and processing.
The project also involved moving towards an integrated Dante audio network, with the aim of simplifying system architecture and providing the technical team with more accessible tools for control and monitoring.
Rather than replacing the loudspeakers, the upgrade focused on modernising the infrastructure behind them, extending the capabilities of an established Amadeus installation.
The project brought together the experience of the venue's technical team and the specialists involved in the system's integration and calibration, continuing the collaboration between Amadeus and the Grand Théâtre de Provence.
