The NUMAX Series marks a decisive step in the evolution of Amadeus loudspeaker design. Conceived as a large-format studio monitor for live sound, it introduces a full-range, high-power architecture in which acoustic design, mechanical precision, and spatial control are intrinsically linked.
NUMAX continues Amadeus' foundational philosophy from the 1990s, one rooted in natural acoustic optimization, now reimagined at a new scale, long before DSP became a corrective tool rather than a supporting one.
Developed through extensive research and validation, NUMAX is engineered for demanding live and cultural environments where clarity, control, and spatial coherence are critical.
One Architecture, Three Systems
The NUMAX Series comprises three complementary models sharing the same acoustic DNA:
NUMAX XV, a compact point-source system;
NUMAX XV Focus, a variable-curvature line-source for precise audience coverage;
NUMAX XV Wide, a constant-curvature line-source optimized for wide vertical dispersion.
All three are designed to integrate seamlessly, ensuring consistent tonal balance, phase behavior, and projection across diverse configurations.
Full-Range Control, Including Low Frequencies
At the core of NUMAX lies a four-way acoustic architecture with integrated cardioid technology. A 15-inch low-frequency driver extends response down to 40 Hz, eliminating the need for conventional subwoofers in many applications and preserving coherent sound localization across the full spectrum.
Two rear-facing 8-inch drivers form a fully embedded cardioid section, providing stable low-frequency directivity and significantly reducing on-stage energy. This approach delivers controlled projection, improved clarity, and spatial consistency, even in acoustically complex venues.
A Single Acoustic Source from Midrange to High Frequencies
NUMAX features a proprietary MF/HF coaxial assembly designed to behave as a single acoustic source. An 8-inch midrange driver and a 3-inch compression driver are acoustically summed through NUWAVE, Amadeus' first proprietary isophasic waveguide. This architecture ensures phase coherence, controlled directivity, and exceptional intelligibility, while minimizing distortion at high sound pressure levels.
Power, Precision, and Craftsmanship
Powered by three amplifier channels and compatible with high-end amplification platforms, NUMAX delivers up to 142 dB peak SPL with the cardioid section active. Passive filtering, hand-assembled from French-made components and resin-coated for durability, reflects Amadeus' studio monitor heritage applied to live sound scale.
Built from Finnish birch plywood and designed for touring-grade reliability, NUMAX also offers extensive customization options, from standard finishes to bespoke architectural materials.
Technical Excellence
With precise transients, controlled energy, and extended bandwidth, NUMAX achieves a level of stability and refinement more commonly associated with high-end studio monitoring than conventional live sound systems. Every element reflects Amadeus' commitment to acoustic integrity, mechanical precision, and spatial coherence:
• Three models to suit every configuration: point-source (NUMAX XV), variable-curvature (NUMAX XV Focus), and constant-curvature (NUMAX XV Wide)
• True full-range performance: frequency response extending down to 40 Hz (±3 dB)
• Native cardioid architecture: exceptional low-frequency rejection and rear energy control
• Custom French-made transducers: engineered for maximum fidelity
• Advanced 4-way architecture: five dedicated transducers for superior spectral definition
• Dedicated 8" midrange driver: optimized for impact, articulation, and clarity
• Patent-pending dual-curvature isophasic waveguide: preserves wavefront integrity and phase coherence
• Proprietary MF/HF coaxial assembly: 8" midrange driver coupled with 1.4" exit compression driver for a single acoustic source
• Patent-pending internal acoustic channeling: minimizes vertical interference, preserving high-frequency clarity
• Interchangeable waveguide flanges: controlled horizontal dispersion—90° symmetric, 120° symmetric; 105° asymmetric, 90°–120° progressive
• Discreet, low-profile design: enabling seamless architectural integration
• High power output: up to 142 dB peak SPL at 1 m
This combination of engineering innovation, acoustic rigor, and refined craftsmanship positions NUMAX as a landmark in live sound, delivering unparalleled control, clarity, and musicality in even the most challenging environments.
